Our Services

A Note on Repair Terms: Saxophone service names vary wildly across UK workshops. For example, one shop's "Basic Service" might only be a quick playing-order tune-up, while another's includes a full Clean, Oil, and Adjust (COA). Similarly, a "Standard" or "Full Service" is often just a COA rather than a complete dismantle and rebuild.

You will also see the term "Overhaul," which is entirely different from a Full Service. Using a car analogy: think of a Full Service as your comprehensive annual service and valet, while an Overhaul is a complete engine rebuild. An overhaul is a mechanical restoration, not routine maintenance.

Please review our service breakdowns below to see exactly what is included in each of our service tiers.

Full Standard Service (Strip-Down Service)

Our Full Standard Service is a more comprehensive maintenance package designed for saxophones that require a deeper level of attention and is often recommended every 12-18 months or annual service.

This service involves a complete strip-down, cleaning, inspection and mechanical adjustment to improve response, reliability and playability.

The service includes:

  • Complete dismantling of the instrument

  • Internal and external hygienic cleaning / wash.

  • Cleaning and lubrication of all key mechanisms

  • Full regulation and adjustment of keywork

  • Leak checking and correction

  • Inspection of pads and replacement of up to 2 worn pads where necessary (additional pads quoted separately)

  • Cleaning and treatment of all pads

  • Replacement of worn corks and felts where required

  • Inspection and adjustment of rods, screws and fittings

  • Spring and key action adjustments where necessary

  • Reassembly and play-testing

The aim is to return your saxophone to a reliable and enjoyable playing condition while helping extend the life of the instrument.

Basic Service - Clean, Oil , Adjust (C.O.A.)

Our Basic Service is designed to keep your saxophone in reliable playing condition through regular maintenance and adjustment usually every 6-12 months.

It is ideal for routine upkeep, helping maintain good response, comfortable key action and mechanical reliability while identifying smaller issues before they develop into larger repairs.

The service includes:

  • External wipe-down of body and accessible keywork

  • Key mechanism lubrication

  • Adjustment of key regulation and mechanism alignment

  • Correction of minor leaks

  • Inspection of corks and felts, with replacement where required

  • Fine adjustments to improve overall playability

This service is generally recommended for relatively new instruments, or regularly maintained saxophones.

It is focused on maintenance and adjustment rather than full service work.

An excellent option for students and advancing players who want to keep their saxophone performing reliably.

Miscellaneous Work

Sometimes your saxophone only needs a specific adjustment or repair rather than a complete service.

Available work includes:

  • Leak checking

  • Neck cork replacement

  • Key regulation adjustments

  • Minor repairs and adjustments

  • Setup adjustments to improve comfort and response

Every instrument is assessed individually, and recommended work will always be discussed before any repairs are carried out.
