A dedicated home workshop built specifically for saxophone repair, allowing each instrument the time and attention it deserves

Welcome to Little Wooden Sax Shop

Saxophone Servicing & Repair

A specialist saxophone servicing and repair workshop based in Shipley, West Yorkshire, serving players across Bradford, Bingley, Saltaire, Ilkley, Baildon, Keighley, Leeds and the surrounding area.

I specialise primarily in saxophone servicing, maintenance and adjustments, helping players keep their instruments playing reliably and at their best. Repairs are also undertaken where appropriate.

After completing woodwind repair training and developing my own specialist workshop, I am now accepting a limited number of saxophone servicing appointments.

Whether your instrument needs a professional check-up, regulation adjustment, leak diagnosis, replacement corks and felts, or general maintenance, my aim is to help keep your saxophone playing reliably and comfortably.

Adult Beginner Saxophone Lessons

Started saxophone as an adult? So did I.

Alongside saxophone repair and servicing, I also offer relaxed 30-minute saxophone lessons for adult absolute beginners, particularly those starting later in life.

You don't need any previous musical experience or knowledge of how to play. We'll start from the very beginning and work at a comfortable pace, covering everything from getting to know your saxophone and producing your first sound to learning your first notes and simple melodies.

As a trained saxophone repair technician, I can also help you understand how to look after your instrument and make sure it is suitable for learning. I also hold a DBS check certificate, helping provide peace of mind and reassurance for students who are new to lessons.

A Careful Approach

Every saxophone receives an individual assessment before any work begins. I will explain any issues found and discuss the recommended work before proceeding.

My current focus is on student and intermediate saxophones, including Yamaha models, with services designed to keep instruments in excellent playing condition.

What we currently offer

My workshop specialises in modern student and intermediate alto and tenor saxophones, with a particular focus on routine servicing, maintenance and adjustments.

By keeping my current range of services focused, I can offer careful workmanship and a quick turnaround for the types of servicing most commonly needed by students, developing players and regular saxophone users.

Services include:

  • Routine servicing, maintenance and tune-ups (COA)

  • Playability evaluation

  • Leak detection and key regulation

  • Cork and minor pad replacement

  • Pre-purchase inspection of used saxophones

  • Help choosing between suitable instruments for beginners

  • Setting up a newly purchased used saxophone

Specialist Work

To maintain a quick turnaround and ensure every instrument receives the appropriate level of care, I currently refer more extensive, structural or time-intensive work to trusted specialist workshops.

This includes:

  • Dent removal and extensive bodywork

  • Soldering and structural repairs

  • Complete overhauls

  • Full repads (occasionally undertaken, depending on current workload)

  • Vintage saxophones

Keeping my service range focused allows me to concentrate on the servicing and adjustments I currently offer, while ensuring that instruments requiring more specialist work are looked after by technicians with the appropriate facilities and expertise.

Where a repair falls outside my current scope, I will always be happy to recommend a suitable specialist.
